We Can and We Will

Beginning in 2004 the Kinard Core Knowledge Middle School Choir and Drama programs have inspired young adults and enthralled audiences for decades.  A public school in the Poudre School District in Fort Collins, Colorado, Kinard has developed a reputation for excellence in the academic, performing arts, athletics, and environmental arenas.

Scott Wheeler, the founding choir & drama director at Kinard, started teaching in the district in 1997 and opened the Kinard building in 2005.  A National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT), Mr. Wheeler's choirs have actively performed throughout our community locally, statewide, and nationally.

As a Core Knowledge School, music is considered an academic, essential part of the curriculum.  All 6th & 7th grade students at Kinard participate in a music ensemble or class.  At the 8th grade level, students can elect to take an advanced music ensemble as they prepare to journey to high school.  Of the 770 students at Kinard, over 600 participate in music.
